Sasha Allen, the openly-transgender female performer who made it to the Live Shows of The Voice set the record straight the moment they reached it. Sasha Allen was the very first during the 21 years of The Voice competitions that Sasha was able to get past The Battle Rounds. Newtown's duo, Jim Allen and Sasha Allen have now advanced to the Top 8 during the 21-year run of the live shows on The Voice! Sasha confessed that he's transgender during their package to participate in Blind Auditions. Blind Auditions, and he told Parade.com that the choice required thought and careful consideration. Sasha made the transition in highschool, and stated that it was hard to openly reveal an intimate side of him to so many people. The week before, during fans week, witnessing the people's support and their reactions, and how they affected the other people was worth the effort. We played the song before The Voice even existed. This was an incredible surprise. We knew the tune and had some thoughts on how to organize it. I was astonished by to see how well the fans struck the nail on their head."
