Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine, a singer-composer famous for his distinct mix of soul gospel jazz R&B as well as R&B. She has performed on Broadway as well as at the Democratic National Convention and in European festivals and clubs. Sunshine's name is Denise White. She is now a resident of Atlanta she was born in Chester Pennsylvania. Her musical path began at church where she sang and performed piano. She was a student at Spellman College and began to master the R&B style that is popular in Atlanta. She was appointed as the principal keyboardist for Tyler Perry's play Meet the Browns in 2005. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy- as well as Tony Award winning vocalist who was part of the stage production Dreamgirls at the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007, approached her to serve as the choral leader for the production. Sunshine was the subject of national media interest during four consecutive shows at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was then invited to sing at the Obama's inauguration ceremony in 2009.
